About Kerry
Kerry is a silence advocate and practitioner—though she’s also an obsessive thinker who is prone to generalized anxiety. She’ll never claim to be healed of these mental tendencies, but she is deeply proud of how she has found emotional balance in her early adulthood.
She grew up in New Jersey, where she began experiencing severe anxiety and disordered eating in her teen years. These struggles disrupted her athletic pursuits but sparked a deep interest in the workings of the mind.
She moved to Charleston, SC to attend the College of Charleston as a William Aiken Fellow in the Honors College. Initially pre-med, she chose to major in biochemistry, not out of love, but because it was more rigorous and prestigious than biology. She excelled academically, graduating summa cum laude, all while quietly struggling with the turmoil of her own mind.
During college, yoga became her lifeline. It stabilized her body, softened her mind, and pointed her away from medicine and toward something more vital: presence. With support from a trusted mentor, she completed her senior thesis on the study of mindfulness. She also completed her yoga teacher training before senior year and began teaching sparingly. She loved the shared experience and the challenge of presence.
When graduation came, rather than committing immediately to graduate school or additional schooling, she chose to teach yoga in her community. Kerry spent the next two years teaching yoga and mindfulness full-time in Charleston. Eventually, she was encouraged to pursue a Master’s in Clinical Counseling to further support her deep interest in integrated mental wellness. She began that program in the summer of 2020 at the Citadel in Charleston, SC. In 2021, she enrolled in a two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training through Sounds True. She graduated from both programs in 2023.
During the fall of 2020, Kerry met her now-partner—and eventually, his children. The experience of caring for them has been her most profound teacher.
Today, Kerry lives with her family, surrounded by trees and spaciousness in Huger, South Carolina. She works full-time as a clinical counselor at Sweetgrass Psychiatry and continues to explore and teach the principles of skillful silence, offering courses, writing, and one-on-one sessions.
